One poster claims that St Andrews doesn’t need a station because it is only 2 miles from the nearest station - sorry, Mr Mathieson, your geography is faulty, as the distance to Leuchars is nearly 6 miles. The second says that Levenmouth’s need is greater and the third that it is ‘a waste of money’ and ‘a ridiculous suggestion’, akin to realigning the main line through Glenrothes rather than Markinch. What these gentlemen have failed to grasp, though, is that improving the connectivity of St Andrews would benefit a much larger area and spread the prosperity around, rather than just the town itself.
