Review of broadcast

The St Andrews Citizen featured the Radio 4 broadcast from last week, in which Starlink convenor Jane Ann Liston emphasised ed the importance of St Andrews as an economic generator and that rail would be the most efficient way of ferrying in the large numbers of tourists, students and commuters. It was also noted that St Andrews was not included in Dr Beeching’s list of closures and was therefore an unintended victim. 'Very few' visitors take train to St Andrews

The results of a survey of tourism in St Andrews has revealed that ‘very few’ admit to using the train as their main mode of transport. According to a report in The Courier only 1% said that they had arrived by train at Leuchars, nearly 6 miles away from St Andrews, prior to completing their journey by road. Starlink is not at all surprised and says it proves that the current bus links with the station are unattractive to visitors. Read More...
