National organisation supports call for STAG

At its Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh, Railfuture Scotland heard a report on the Starlink campaign. Members heard of a recent meeting with Transport Minister Keith Brown, arranged by Willie Rennie MSP, who has also voiced support for the campaign, with Rod Campbell MSP, Cllr Tim Brett (Fife Council) and Jane Ann Liston (Starlink convenor). The Minister advised that the STAG was the next step in the campaign, but that the Scottish Government did not fund these, because local authorities and regional transport partnerships have money to do so. Mr Brown therefore joins Scotrail, Transport Scotland, TayPlan and Fife Council Transportation in agreeing with Howard Pack in his report how the process should proceed. Unfortunately Fife Council has so far been unable to identify resources to fund the exercise.
