Lone voice in Citizen

Mr Chalmers’ letter in the Citizen is very similar to his one in the Courier last week and I’m afraid adds very little to the debate. On the one hand he says that St Andrews should simply content itself with being over 5 miles removed from the railway station, apparently happy with the status quo, while on the other he suggests every other measure short of a new railway. Almost in desperation he pleads, ‘There must surely be other feasible alternatives to this StARLink proposal.’

I’m sure there are, but none is as likely to attract as many users, and therefore cause the greatest reduction in the number of cars going along the A91 into town past Mr Chalmers’ house, as would a railway.
