When Mr K. Rosenberg of Portland retires to Scotland, and St Andrews is high on his list of preferred retirement locations, he will not have a car. However he does not relish co-ordinating bus and train times at Leuchars, particularly in the cold rain and chilly east winds of winter. Mr Rosenberg is surprised that St Andrews, which he calls the 'Jewel of Scotland', lacks a rail link, despite its world-wide renown, especially being a tourist centre, and calls for Fife Council and the Government to support and fund this 'vital link'.
