'St Andrews in Focus' looks at railway

The bimonthly magazine St Andrews in Focus included an article about the former St Andrews railway line and looks forward to a new one.
John Hamilton, who travelled on the last train 50 years ago recalled the line and draws attention to the remaining traces of it. Of particular interest is his description of the statutory public meeting, where a substantial petition was presented but refused by the chairman because objections, he claimed, should have been lodged earlier, as well as the contribution by a representative of the University, drawing attention to the problems which would be faced by students arriving with a term’s worth of luggage. However he also mentions the work of the StARLink campaign and concludes with the positive message:
‘I look forward to seeing everyone on the first train.’
And so say all of us.
